1) Initial Meeting

This meeting is free and allows me to understand the scope of your project as well as for you to become acquainted with me.  This is not only your time to convey your landscape design needs, wishes, & dreams, but for me to show you what my designs look like.   I will bring examples as well as my portfolio and can answer any questions you may have.  It is helpful to share any pictures, lists of plants you like, or a style you prefer.  I will make some general suggestions, but like to have time to “stew” on your project until the ‘Layout & Plant Materials’ Meeting.  The initial meeting is usually about 1 hour.

After we meet, I then present a written proposal of services which includes the services I will be providing, costs, meeting schedule, and notes from our initial meeting.  I require a signed copy of this proposal as well as a non-refundable 20% deposit to begin the project.

2) Measurements & Site Analysis

I like to measure all my own designs.  With today’s technology, it is possible for me to measure without stepping foot onto your property, but I would be missing out on so many aspects of your yard.  I will also take digital photos of your landscape.  I schedule this as a meeting, but you do not have to be present for me to accomplish my work.  These measurements are then combined and a base map is drafted.   It takes me 1-2 hours depending on the site.

3) Layout & Plant Materials Meeting

I will develop several different layout options (2-4) of which I present to you at this meeting.  Hardscape materials and accents, lawn and bed shapes, as well as the general plant layout will all be discussed.  I bring pictures of any elements included in the design.  Utilizing your feedback, the final concept can be morphed together pulling the pieces you like together into one functional design.  Some clients make decisions on which layouts they like and why at this meeting, but if you need time to “digest” them that is great, too!  Changes to the layout are communicated via email or an additional meeting can be scheduled.  The layout must be finalized before the process can proceed to the planting plan.

I have a clear picture of the plant material I will use at this point, so I also bring a picture collage of them as well.  The names and features of each plant are presented as well as where they will be used in the landscape.  This is meant to be a plant intro to gauge your likes and dislikes.  [Disclaimer: Sometimes the site conditions will dictate which plants we should use therefore, limiting the choices.]  We review the planting plan in its entirety at the final meeting.

4) Final Meeting

The planting plan is completed along with the plant list.  Your notebook is presented with all the information you need to install your landscape design.  We review the entire notebook and any changes from the layout and plant materials meeting.  If needed, an additional fine tuning session can be scheduled because my goal is to leave you with a functional design.  We also walk through the planting plan in more detail at this last meeting.
